Digital Planners

What is a digital planner or digital diary?

Digital planners or digital agendas are essentially recreated versions of traditional paper-based agendas. They are interactive PDF files that are imported into your chosen note-taking app (e.g., Goodnotes or Noteshelf) on an iPad or tablet with a compatible stylus.

I'm new to digital planning, how do I get started?

If you're a beginner, it's quite easy to get started. You'll need an iPad or Android tablet with a compatible stylus and an annotation app.

With your InMotion Planner digital planner, upload your PDF file to your device and then open it in the annotation application of your choice. You can navigate your digital planner or notebook with hyperlinks (tabs and buttons) in reading mode.

Important recommendation: Choose a note-taking app for your tablet before making any purchases in the InMotion Planner store. Familiarize yourself with how your chosen app works, as well as with your personal tools (tablet and stylus) first.

I also recommend that you browse my blog posts and YouTube channel to familiarize yourself with the concept.

Note-taking apps

Which note-taking apps work with InMotion Planner products?

InMotion Planner products are tested and used with the Goodnotes 6 app, the iPad Pro, and the Apple Pencil.

However, all products are essentially interactive PDF files (or PNG files - stickers). which work on any PDF annotation application that supports using a stylus to write.

Here are some examples of applications:

  • Goodnotes 6 app (iOS)
  • Notability app (iOS only)
  • ZoomNotes application (iOS only)
  • Noteshelf 2 application (iOS and Android)
  • Xodo App (iOS and Android)
  • Penly application (Android only)
  • Samsung Notes (Android only)

Hyperlinks do not work with the OneNote application; therefore, this application is not recommended.

Goodnotes 6 is now available on Android and Windows, but this version isn't ideal for digital planning due to the lack of hyperlink support.

You can choose your preferred PDF annotation application or software based on your device's compatibility.

These applications are not included in the purchase and are available for sale in the Apple Store or the Google Store.

Before placing an order, please read the description and included files for each product.

How to choose a note-taking application?

Be sure to test the apps on your tablet to make sure it meets your expectations before making a decision to purchase a digital product.

Each app has its own features for annotating your digital planner or notebook, which you can use with a pen or keyboard depending on your preference.

Our digital planners are designed with hyperlinks for easy and quick navigation between pages and tabs. Most apps support hyperlinks, just put your app in "read-only" mode, like in Goodnotes 6.

We recommend certain applications (see answer above) that allow you to personalize your digital planner in PDF format. However, the choice of application depends on your needs and the compatibility of your equipment.

Devices and tools

About devices, apps, and products

InMotion Planner is responsible for the design and operation of its own products.

If you encounter any technical or usage difficulties with your device, stylus, or note-taking application, we are not responsible.

It is important to note that the choice of devices and applications is personal and does not belong to us. We invite you to contact the technical support of your chosen device or application for assistance.

We do not provide usage tutorials for all applications available on the market.

You can consult the guides of the companies that created these applications or other free resources available online.

We would like to emphasize that the information on note-taking applications presented on our website is only a recommendation and serves as inspiration only.

We encourage you to take the time to familiarize yourself with the note-taking application you have chosen, as well as your equipment, before purchasing one of our products.

If you have any specific questions about our products, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Is it compatible with...?

All products, unless otherwise noted, are PDF files, which means you can use them with any device that allows you to download a PDF.

However, the design of our products is designed to adapt to an iPad or Android tablet with a PDF annotation application (Example: Goodnotes, Xodo, ZoomNotes, NoteShelf).

Do I need to have an iPad to use InMotion Planner products?

NO. iPads are the most popular device to use for digital planning, however, you can use your digital planner on almost any device: iPad or other tablet, smartphone, computer, etc.

All products, unless otherwise noted, are PDF files, which means you can use them with any device that allows you to download a PDF annotation app (GoodNotes, Xodo, ZoomNotes, NoteShelf, etc. .).

Synchronization

How does syncing between devices work?

Synchronizing notes on your PDF files depends solely on your tools. The sync feature is when you can use your digital planner on different devices while still keeping your notes in real time.

To use this feature, you should have the same note-taking app installed on all your devices. Your devices (phone, tablet and computer) must be linked by a cloud with the same identifier. Synchronization happens automatically if you have this option enabled.

That said, if you have devices from different brands, which cannot be connected with the same identifiers, cloud and applications, it will be impossible for you to synchronize your notes.

You can still choose to use your digital diary or notebook on your favorite device.

Do digital calendars sync with Google Calendar?

No. Digital planners cannot automatically synchronize with Google Calendar. The reason is that these two formats work differently. On the one hand, digital calendars are PDF files, while on the other hand, Google Calendar is a (coded) application.

Digital planners are designed to replicate the experience of paper planners, favoring intentional use where you deliberately refer to your planner to consult your schedule or important annotations. They also offer the benefits of the digital features of note apps, such as the ability to change text colors, add images, copy and paste, and have digital access.

It's important to note that products purporting to be linked to Google Calendar are actually just hyperlinks that open the app. You will still need to manually add the text and time, as no actions are automated, and nothing updates automatically.

Installation

How do I install my digital calendar?

To install your digital calendar, you must have an annotation application on your tablet, phone or computer.

Download your PDF file to your device and then open (import) it in the annotation application of your choice.

With your stylus or keyboard you can write and erase, personalize your diary or notebook with images/stickers according to your desires.

Important: Keep an original copy of downloaded files in your records.

Usage

Why don't the hyperlinks work?

For hyperlinks to work on GoodNotes or another app, make sure the " Read Only " option is selected. For example, on Goodnotes 6, the button is located in the top (blue) center-left bar and looks like a pencil.

The important thing is to find the option that allows you to visualize versus the option that allows you to draw/annotate.

You will be able to click on the links once the view option is enabled.

Check that the application you have chosen allows the use of hyperlinks.

Can I use the products without a stylus?

Our products are designed to replace the use of paper. To be able to maintain the feeling and fun aspect of handwriting, it is important to have a stylus compatible with your tablet.

However, if you don't have a stylus, it is still possible to use digital planners. Typically, note-taking apps on the market have options for adding both handwritten and typed text .

Can I use the products on the phone?

Yes, you can use digital planners and notebooks on your phone. The principle remains the same, you should have a note-taking application (like Goodnotes 6 or other) installed on your laptop.

To use on your phone, you should choose the typed text option.

However, I only recommend using the phone as a temporary fallback, as digital planners are more enjoyable to use on a tablet with a stylus, like a paper planner.

Can I use a digital planner on the computer?

You can use a MacBook as long as you can download a notes app, like Goodnotes 6, Noteshelf, Notability. We highly recommend primarily using an iPad rather than a MacBook to benefit from the pen handwriting feature.

Are dated digital diaries updated year after year?

No, my digital planners are PDF files. This means that no automatic updates are possible. They work in the same way as paper planners, the main difference being that they are not in a printed format.

Every year I create a new file (product) with a new design, a new concept, new pages and a new dating. If you are looking for a product that lasts from year to year, I recommend choosing an undated product.

How do undated products work?

An undated product means that the PDF/digital diary file does not contain pre-established dates. You must add the dates yourself when using it. This means that you can reuse the file from one year/period to the next by simply creating a new copy of the unused file.
